For guests staying in Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts (which we highly recommend), certain parks are open an hour early or up to three hours later. Plan ahead of time which parks you can take advantage in the early morning or late evening. Consider an afternoon swim or break at the resorts as the Extra Magic Hours theme park can get more crowded mid-day.
Many attractions in the theme parks, like Soarin' and Test Track, offer single rider lines. These lines move much faster than the standby line. If the older kids in your party (or you) don’t mind riding alone, you can save a ton of time waiting in line for Disney’s most thrilling attractions.
Especially if you are traveling with little ones, save time in the morning by having breakfast in the room or bringing it with you to the theme park. Bring bowls and cereal, and buy milk in the park (it’s reasonably priced). The less time you are sitting down in a restaurant, the more time you have to see the attractions. We recommend one table-service meal per day (at most) to be able to maximize your park-touring time.
This is a must-do to save time in the theme parks. Disney’s Disney Genie+ service lets you reserve access to select attractions and entertainment. You can choose from over 60 of your favorite theme experiences, securing up to 2 to 3 attractions or experiences per day using the Lightning Lane entrance if the first selection is made early in the day. You make one selection at a time, starting at 7am on the day of your visit (experiences are subject to availability).
Buying your ticket before you arrive may seem like a no-brainer, but it’s a must if you want to save time and money visiting the theme parks. There are so many options to consider, and your Supertravelistic planner can walk you through the benefits of each. The last thing you want to do is end up waiting in an long line in the summer heat before you even get inside the park. That’s not super at all.
Perhaps one of the most storied of time-saving tips, guests have been saving time in the theme parks by choosing the line on the left rather than the right since the parks opened. It’s human nature to go to the right side first, so if you see two lines for a ride, choose the left one to save a little waiting time.
In Epcot, tour World Showcase counter-clockwise and do the same for the Magic Kingdom lands and the Disney Studios attractions. You’ll be super surprised!
Walt Disney World and Disneyland cover a lot of ground, and their size alone can be overwhelming. The reality is, you might not have time to do see and do everything you’d like, but don’t stress! Make a list of your “must-sees” and make it a priority to see them as soon as you enter the park. You’ll be surprised that once you have accomplished this, the day can become much more fun and relaxing, with unexpected experiences along the way.
As we discussed in the Top Ten Money Saving Tips, visiting off-season is the very best way to save time and money on your next Disney vacation. You may miss some seasonal magic, but it’s worth considering if you’re serious about seeing and doing the most.
If you’re traveling with little ones, put clothing together in outfits and pack them in groupings. You’ll save time getting ready each day, not having to figure out what to wear and what goes together. Plus, it’s a fun activity for the kids before the trip to build the excitement. What will you be wearing when you meet Buzz Lightyear for the first time?
